Here are new airline approved pet carriers for cats. The carriers have optional items you can get- waterers and feeders, but all you really need for your cat is the carrier. If your cat will be in the carrier for more than 12 hours, get a larger size carrier and include a small, covered, litter box, an attached water bowl or bottle that allows your cat to drink but won't spill, and some soft bedding or a blanket. Don't feed your cat in-transit - wait until you reach the day's destination. Your cat will be traveling in style!
NOTE: Do not sedate your cat when traveling. Cats need to pant to regulate their body temperature during travel. Studies have shown that sedating your pet is dangerous.
