Foster Cat Left Fleas Behind

I had a foster cat, and she was totally infested with fleas, and now all my cats have them!

Let me tell you the story. It broke my heart!

When I rescued Pretty Girl, Bugs and Queenie, there was another cat - Miss Muffat. She was spayed, friendly and once she had her shots, I was able to place her immediately.

Well, the lady I placed her with broke her agreement. She let Miss Muffat out and the poor thing got infested with fleas. Actually, the lady has to move and intended to leave her behind. So, I re-rescued her.

While Miss Muffat lived there, something happened, and Muff wouldn't use the litter box anymore. I couldn't let her out in the general population because of her litter habits.

However, she brought fleas with her. And her worms - Oh My! She was so bloated and her fur was so bad. When I cleaned the bathroom up after she left, I discovered blood droplets all over the place from the flea bites. I hope I never see a cat in that condition again. And when I think that I placed her in that home, it breaks my heart!

So, when I was able to put her in a place that would take her, I found that all the cats have fleas. I have to de-flea the entire building - I live in a 4-plex, my apartment, all the vacant apartments and public areas, and then de-worm the cats.

I'm getting the premise spray to start, and since Princess is so hard to handle (she really hates any attention at all!), I may just put collars on everyone. I like the Advantage drops, and it works well. I would need 3 for over 9 pounds and 2 for under 9 pounds. I'm also considering the NEEM spray. Again, it would be difficult to put on Princess.

So, stay tuned, and watch the blog entries for the blow-by-blow as it happens: http://for-the-love-of-cats.blogspot.com/

ONLY 5 DAYS LEFT FOR CALENDAR SUBMISSIONS!

The deadline for the 2007 Calendar Contest is ALMOST HERE! Please be sure to get your photos in so that the judges can pick the top 24 photos. Time is running EXTREMELY short!

You can send photos to "calendar@for-the-love-of-cats.com" or "catadvice@hotmail.com" if you want to send them over the internet. Payment of $15 for entries is required at time of entry submission, but you can purchase through the last calendar available. Please send your credit card information or include an email address for paypal billing. You can also use the calendar form and mail your payment with the entry.

No charges will be made until I have at least 12 photos for the calendar, and all records (except photos, which will be put on the website) will be destroyed if that number is not met.

So far, I don't have enough orders or entries to go to press. No charges will be made to credit cards unless I do.

The main photo is a winner of 5 calendars and 2 coupons for my suppliers. They also get free downloads and specials throughout the year - the kind I can't always send to newsletter folks.

On the actual calendar page, there is a small photo and that person gets 2 calendars and a coupon.

I need 12 large photos and 12 small photos submitted with payment to make up the calendars. HEY- Your cat is on the calendar, not some fancy cat!

I found this Over-the-Door Climbing and Activity center and just HAD to have it on the website! I had to set up an arrangement to get it, and I was very happy that they accepted me. Actually, the outfit kept asking me to sign up, but I never saw anything worth signing up to offer you until this showed up!

Cozy Climber

I took one look at this unique design and just had to be able to offer it to you! Just think, those of us (me included) in small spaces or those with children who don't want to trust the tall cat trees not to fall over, this is an excellent option! You can get free shipping by joining their buyers club.

They have a great directory system, so be sure to check out their full cat section!

I have 2 specials that are ONLY for subscribers, and they will NOT be on the specials page. So, here they are:

This is an excellent time to cruise, and SmartCruiser has set up a special offer for my visitors. The prices are GREAT! The destinations are gorgeous, and what could be better when you are faced with the winter blahs? Book now to get the special pricing, even if you can't leave for a while.

Remember to board your cat while you are gone. A hired petsitter is also good for a short trip.

Notice: Advice Fee

This is a 45 Day Notice that the Advice fee will be going up in Mid-December. I have to do this because I'm still getting spam.

So, if you have a question, or if you have a friend who has a question, now is the time to ask it. After December 15th, it will cost more.

The fee won't be terrible, but it will be more than double ($4.79).
