Scruffy

Submitted by Bobbie S., PA

SCRUFFY 4 XMAS 04
I'll never forget when I first saw you during the summer of 2003. You were just a little guy living outdoors. The next time I saw you we had 20 inches of snow and I tried to get you to come out from under a car. I was so glad to see you because I left food for you right before the storm and you did not eat it. I thought you were dead. A few weeks later, I saw you eating the food I always left out and you let me pick you up. From that day on, your life changed for the better. You were very frightened until you started to trust your family. You made a complete turn-around and you were the most loving kitty and we adored you.

In February, 2007 you were very sick and we tried to saveyou. We love you with all our hearts and will never forget your bright smile. I would give anything to see you slide along the rug to wipe your butt after using your litter box. You were too cute for me to ever get angry. On February 4, 2007 you stopped eating. First thing in the morning on February 5th, with your bulky knit sweater on, we drove to the vet. With IV tubes attached you were transported to the intensive care unit. You had been suffering with inflammatory bowel disease which may have caused your liver disease and pancreatitis. You were struggling to breathe and no matter what the doctors did, your blood would not clot enough to stick a feeding tube into you.

You were crying and I asked the vet to stop your pain. Lucky and my mother met you at the Rainbow Bridge on February 6th. Your family adores you and we miss you, my darling angel There are no words to describe the hole in our hearts. You were not even 5 years old.

Yes you could smile with your body language. You will stay forever in our hearts. Now my mother, in heaven is taking care of you until I join you at the Rainbow Bridge. I kiss you and we will be together again.

Love Mom
