Cat missing for a month. finally made it back home!

this is Munch when she was 4 months old

this is Munch when she was 4 months old

My cat Munch was one of my favorite kittens. She acted and loved dogs and all our other cats. Then about a month an a half ago she got outside and took off. Sshe was gone and I was very upset.

On Feb. 10, 2009 a got a phone call from the local Humane Society saying someone found a cat matching my missing cat. I called the lady and got her address and went to see if it was my Munch. It was her, the lady said she had had her for about a month. Well come to find out she didn't take every good care of Munch, she had poop matted on her butt and she looked like she wasn't fed at all!

So we brought her home and bathed her. We cut the poop off her (which weighed about half a pound) and once we got her cleaned and dried we noticed that her skin had been peeling off from where all that stuff was matted to her, it had been on there so long that it was weighing down her back end and peeling skin off.

It's been 2 days since we have had her back and she is finally eating and walking around. Still not the best, but she is doing a lot better than what those people did to her. Right now I'm trying to get in touch with someone about the way these people treated her and to have the Humane Society go to there house to make sure all their other animals are healthy. I don't know how someone could do something that wrong to any animals....

It's going to be a long time till Munch is back to normal. But that's something I'm willing to do to make my cat healthy and in better shape.

travelling cats
by: Bill Howard

My wife and I live in Cyprus. We have a number of cats and these attract other stray cats in the village. Sometimes we take these cats to the seafront to join others which are fed regularly by well wishers.

This may seem cruel but is far better for the cat than getting into trouble here in the village.

Anyway to get to the point. We took a small female cat to the sea front about two weeks ago and this morning it turned up at the house. By road it is about 8 kilometers distance the cat has come. Less as the crow flies.

I think she may have earned a place here after all! Does anyone know how cats do this traveling back to their source?
