Cats fighting

by Chris Phillips
(Prince George BC)

I have four spayed female cats. Smokey the younger female came into heat shortly after we got her and that triggerd something in Kassi and she has had a hate for Smokey every since. Kassi attacks her every time she can and will not stop no matter what I do.

I have tried everything to stop this bad behaviour. Now I just keep them separated or Kassi is on a leash beside me so she cannot hurt herself or the younger one.

I am at my wits end. Any idea how I can make peace in my home? Look forward to hearing back from you. Thanks

For an aggressive cat, try some clicker training or some herbal defenses. Start with some peppermint extract on cotton balls around the room. Make sure both cats have their own litter boxes, and that both cats are altered. A sexual response can elicit this type of behavior. Even a spayed female can have a sexual response, so watch for marking, dominance and pecking order issues. Stay out of the pecking order issues unless one is in danger of real damage. Spay your females to stop further issues from developing. ~Morgen
