Cheering up my Girlfriend after sudden loss of her dear Kitty

by Packy
(Glen Ellyn)

My Girlfriend Tina woke and unexpectedly had to take her kitty Killian to the Cat hospital. The doctor found two tumors inside Killy's and suggested it would be best to put him down at that moment. My sweetheart was broken up all day and I had to think fast and cheer up my sweetheart someway.

I surprised her with this letter printed on some fancy (heart themed) stationary and put it on her doorstep for her to find after work later in the day. She cried tears of joy while reading it to her sister, friend and then her mother.

Here it is: April 16, 2010

Dear Tina,

Great news!

I just made it to Kitty heaven and I’m so happy to be here.

This morning was such a blur but I’m so grateful you took me to the hospital to relieve me of my pain.

Please don’t worry about me. I assure you it was the right thing to do and it was definitely my time to go.

I will never forget that day years ago when you magically appeared in my life.

I was a frightened, hungry and homeless kitten with no idea how I was going to survive.

I recall vividly what a beautiful and sweet young lady you were with a voice to match.

I adored you instantly!

When you left me that day, I wondered if I’d ever be lucky enough to see you again.

The next day I saw you (without a doubt) was the happiest day of my life!

You adopted me and gave me the best life a Kitty could ever ask for.

I am so fortunate for all those wonderful years of love you shared with me.

You made me feel like the luckiest cat on earth.

Thank you so much!

Love,

Killy’s

Cheering up my Girlfriend after sudden loss of her dear Kitty
by: Carole

I started reading the letter and it brought tears to my eyes. I know what it is like to bring a dear pet into the vet and being told it so sick that it has to be put to sleep. It is like losing a member of your family. It just breaks your heart. I lost a cat 3 yrs after Goldie had a stroke. She was a very special animal and she can never be replaced. About a month later I brought home Oliver. He was a feral cat that came close to death. My vet nursed him back to health. When I brought him home, he jumped up on the love seat and fell to sleep. He knew he had a permanent home. To help to get over the loss of a pet, I find it helps to adopt another one. You never forget the animal you just lost, but it helps to fill that void. Thank for you for submitting the letter.
