I read this yesterday and I wonder if it would work?
If cats have turned against each other - often because one has picked up a foreign odor - you can mend the rift by making them smell the same way. The easiest way to do that is to put a drop of vanilla extract on both their heads. Then they will smell exactly the same, which can erase many tensions.
Yes, or give them a bath, or use peppermint extract, instead of vanilla.
I recommend peppermint because it's in the same family as catnip, although cats react differently to it. It's also stronger-smelling than vanilla. ~Morgen

Fight at Night by: Anonymous
I adopted a daughter & her mother a long time ago. The mother told the daughter what she could and couldn't do for the first 4 years. I took the mother into the vet to have her teeth cleaned. When I brought her home that afternoon and let her out of the cat carrier, the daughter hissed and growled at her mother. She had never done this before. It was if to say, I'm a big girl now and you are no longer going to tell me what to do. Both of them tried to be TOP CAT and they would get in cat fights. I never did solve the problem.
Pecking Order issues are common after a vet visit. If you take both the ladies to the vet next time, things will calm down... ~Morgen
