Pookers Lane

Pookers xmas 1998

Pookers xmas 1998

I found Pookers at work in 1997. Some of the guys moved a big piece of equipment and there she lay under it. I figure her mother was in the middle of moving the babies and just didn't get to her in time. The guys brought her to me. And I told them to put her back just in case the mother came back. But I knew she wouldn't, not with human scent all over her. I ended up at the end of the day taking her home and bottle feeding her every 4 hours for the next three months.

She became very close to me. She would give me kisses when I ask her. And boy did she love to play! She had two personalities: Sweet Pook and Mean Pook. We would always tell her to go under the bed and find the Sweet Pook.

She was my baby. She slept with me every night. In 2008 she became lethargic and I took her to the vet. I was informed that she had a tumor. It was in a place that we couldn't remove and we couldn't save her. They gave me the weekend to spend with her and make up my mind on what to do.

I took her back to the vet on Monday and found I had no alternatives but to put her down. I did not want her to suffer and I did not want to watch her health go down any further. I spent quality time all weekend and all the Love I had to give.

Pookers died August 28, 2008. I did have her cremated and her ashes are still in my bedroom with me every night. I will never forget Pook.
