Reincarnated?

by Katharine Sherwood
(Apache Junction Az)

I am a new cat owner. My husband brought home a stray about 4 months ago. We have been married 15yrs and I have never known my husband to care for cats. She was so sweet and loving when he brought her home. Knowing she was just dropped off, we loved her even more. In the mean time, we had a dog that was very attached to me. I become ill a few years ago and my dog never left my side. In late October as we walked to get the mail, a man driving way too fast came too close to the curb and my dog was hit. She died in my arms a few hrs later. I was crushed. I had animals pass before, when I was young, but nothing had hit me quite as hard as this. We decided not to get another dog and spoil our new family member. This November, as I was leaving the grocery store there was a young couple giving away kittens. I knew better than to walk up to them but couldn't resist. There were four left. After sitting in the car with my son I went back up and there was only one left - the smallest one. I'm thinking she was the runt. She had the biggest bow on her. As the months have passed, I have noticed things that my new kitten does, that my dog also did. My dog was a small breed. The new kitten, "Baby," carries her mouse where ever she goes; has the smallest "bark" you have ever heard; and wont leave my side except to harass the other cat and my husband. These two bring so much joy to us. But in the back of my mind, I see my dog in the little one. I will never have to forget my dog because she will always be with me.
