Smudge is a bully

by Chris
(Greeley, CO)

I adopted Smudge and Pewter--brother and sister and they grew up together. I got Pewter spayed at 6 months and Smudge at 8 months after he started to harass Pewter. Everything went back to normal. They are both 4 years old now. A couple of years ago, I ended up with a friend's cat after she passed away (I had told her that I would take Mariah if anything happened to her--didn't think that 3 months later, I would have the cat). I slowly introduced Mariah to the other two and it took quite a while for Smudge and Mariah to get along. Smudge refuses to get along with Pewter--she stays up on the bookcase and if she gets down, he chases her back up. I have tried various things but nothing changes. If I am in the room, Pewter will come down to the bed and give "lovins". Any suggestions?

Do you mean that Smudge and Pewter - who used to get along, no longer do??? Try some bonding play, then it's time for counseling. This is an involved situation. ~ Morgen
