Urinates in Litter, Mostly Defecates Everywhere Else...

Me and PussPuss

My cat has been with me most of her life, and we're heading towards the 13 year mark, I'm sure. We're the best of friends! I always know what she wants or what she's thinking, except for one thing...

She urinates in the litter no problem(thank goodness) but seems to like to poop in multiple places and on different types of surfaces! But then will go in the litter too!!

I first started noticing it maybe 10 years ago when I'd let her out on the patio(she is an indoor cat with access to patios and rooftops) and I would find her wandering on the roof surrounded by a warzone of stool! Then when my ex and I broke up 5 years ago, I stopped letting her go on the patio cuz she started pooping on our neighbors patio(it was a townhouse with a long common patio). So then she started defecating on the carpet! I've moved a couple of times and now live with my new boyfriend for the last couple of years who has become good friends with my cat, so their relationship is pretty good. But as my cat gets older, it seems her defecating around the house is getting worse... happening every day now! She's pooped in the tub, in the bathroom, under chairs, under beds, in the middle of the floor, in front of the door and just recently is going IN THE BED, even while we're in it!!!

We've tried everything... cleaning the litter box more often, changing the brand of litter, moving it to a better location, took her to the vet a couple of times(they told me they found nothing), changed her diet to something more fibrous, then tried one that was for digestive problems, now we are using a brand for older cats that she seems to love, I've even tried playing with her more, but have witnessed her stopping the playing to go and poop in the bedroom...

I love having her in the bed with us, but now I can't trust her in there and have to keep her in the bathroom overnight since our bedroom doesn't have a door. But she ends up scratching the door in the middle of the night and it keeps me up. When I let her out, of course she tries to hop on the bed but we just end up putting her back on the floor over and over until she gets the hint.

I've researched tons, but can't seem to find a 'cure' nor even know why this is occurring! Because she urinates in the litter but SOMETIMES defecates in there, it's hard to say if she's in pain or not! I don't want to be mad at her, but I can't help it! I've tried a lot of different things! It's just disgusting to roll over in a pile of poop in the middle of the night!

I'm at my last straw...

Help!!

You need to contact the Cat Whisperer. There is a training regimen that works, but I can't post it here. ~Morgen
